I moved my washer/dryer out to my garage, and I have a problem now... of course. anyway the volume of water that my washing machine is pumping out is too much for the pipe (or the distance it has to go or something) anyway is there anyway to slow down the flow of water out of my washing machine? or am I screwed?
Thanks.
sincerely.

I should add, I live in a neighborhood,
the pipe is 1.5 pvc (I know Now that it should be 2") traveling to around a 90 and into a "T" into the slab foundation.
here's a picture of the situation:

where the pipe stops on the right, is where the washer is.
and unfortunately all the cabinets and all are in now so I can't change any of that plumbing...

thanks.

there are things you can do to reduce the water flow but it would eventually destroy your washing machine and most likely cause a little flood. If the issue is the size of your drain pipe, you can add a utility sink between the washer and the drain so the water has a place to go and can back up a little bit in the sink until it all eventually passes through the drain.
If the distance the water travels is the issue and the drain pipe is of adequate size, you may need a pump.

Like a previous poster said, a utility sink is probably the best way to go for you. Run a pipe from the drain of the sink to the existing PVC that you have running from the washer now and allow the washer to empty into the sink instead of directly into the drain. The flow rate will not change but it will allow the water to build up in the sink, rather than in the pipe and will ease wear and tear on both the washer and the piping
