I believe as time last forever forward it also goes backwards forever. Now as the universe is forever outwards I believe also inwards we can go forever as well. So when it is really pondered on most everything is really forever everything on earth that we have now was here on earth a billion years ago in one form or another. Such as these computers are mostly made of silicon that existed billions of years as sand. If we think of how the only difference between us now and a billion years ago is intellect then intellect must equally expand forever as well. So if we sent all our scientist back in time a billion years all our inventors as well, they would in no time have electricity, vehicles and computers even the Internet because everything we have today was made from supply from the Earth it always will be too until we start mining other planets, even then all planets might be pretty much made of the same materials.
