Well, they almost have it right. A day player is hired to work by the day. He might have a one day contract, a three day contract, whatever. The role can be from one line to several lines to several pages in more that one scene. Usually it is just a few lines in one scene and the work is for one day.

There is a part in that days shooting where they need a person to say one line as a walk on - working just for the day. They are looking for a type of body or look for this person. Go for it. Doing a number of these gigs get you noticed.
