I think we already live in a world where we talk and other never fully listen. People always have other things going in their heads and when we speak of our issues probably only less than half gets comprehended... so talking without being heard is probably a norm. But suffering without stirring compassion, sounds like a given. When we see someone in so much pain it should be natural to have compassion for them, so I definitely believe that their is more loneliness from the lack of compassion from others. I think we have to have a certain level of compassion and emotional sensitivity to always approach others, even strangers in this manner. Thanks for reading!

You may also ask does compassion exist for starving people if all people are starving? In this example there is nothing to support the relative dependent state of compassion.

The human condition is improving, going back 16K years we should all have compassion on how every person lived covered in lice, suffering from intestinal parasites and maybe wearing itchy animals skins if they were industrious and in need.

So to answer, yes. It may be initially visionary people who can model a better life and see the state we live in. I have compassion because I see the hope of a better world. Every generation thinks they are the final peak of civilization. I have compassion for every generation.

If I were to think of something sad I could possibly depress myself. If I were to think of someone in a desperate or sorrowful situation, even if imagined, I could possibly feel compassion. We have the ability to summon up emotive states if we so desire to do so whether or not the actual situation that correlates to those emotions exists or not. Even if there was not any suffering we could still imagine there was and there for summon up a compassionate state within ourselves. The capacity to feel is a well that can constantly be filled if we chose to do so and is at our disposal if need be.

In this world yes. But their are souls who live in the eternal world yet they have compassion.
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. Real compassion is to give one the wisdom how to escape all misery. Here it is.

Truth but presented in such a way as to twist it into a lie. Misses the point. Moreover it is outside and beyond the point. Shades of grey is all we see, though we know it is really black and white.
