I have taken tests 8/14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28 . two lines appear on the test at all times. The test line is same color as control line, but on the far left of the test line there is a darker line (about 1/3 to 1/4 darker line) what do this that darker line mean?

I called "answer" hot line and they say that dark line has to be 1/2 to be considered fertile..so i am confused to why that line is like half of that. although, on 18,19,21 that dark line pretty much stands out from all the other test but not up to 1/2 of the test line like they say




i usually run 18-24 day cycles today is day 21. so wouldn't I be ovulating closer to when I get my menstrual period or shortly after it ends????

most cycles are after 21 days, my avg is 23

The answer brand can be very hard to read and nearly always show 2 lines. You need to use another brand of test--the Clearblue Ovulation tests are excellent and now they have digitals that are fool-proof.
Also, since your cycles are so short it is unlikely that you are ovulating at all and if you are ovulating then you probably have a luteal phase defect.

I thought I was the only one who had this problem with the Answer brand. However, I've only seen it with the big pack of the "little" sticks - the ones that come in a 20 pack and not a 7 pack. I don't count it as positive unless the majority of the line is dark not just that little strip down the side of the line..... For me this has been difficult b/c we are trying to determine if I am even ovulating, due to progressively longer cycles - I go back to the dr. on Thursday. So, I think I'm going to switch to another brand, it's gonna cost more, but maybe I won't be so confused.

Same here...I have a 28 day cycle. Usually get LH surge on 14 CD or CD 15. This time, I saw the surge on CD 12 CD, lighter on 13, + LH on 14 CD, lighter on 15,16.17.18 and then a sudden surge on 19th {+ ovulation) and dark on 20 CD. I have a dark line as well.. I ignore it of the majority of the test line is lighter than the dark line on the corner.. Im totally freaked out. Im hoping its a defective strip. So I tried it with a Dollar Tree one and the test and control were same..So, time to go to the doc ;)

you should be ovulating about 14 days after the first day of your period... so start testing then. If the lines are confusing you, i dont know what to tell ya other than to get the digital kind. Those are foolproof...and sometimes determining whether the lines are there or not is so confusing lol.

the color does not matter! If you read the insert it will also tell you that it does not matter....

rather than spending hundreds of bux on OTC pregnancy tests and ovulation kits and asking people on line...Go to the DOCTOR.

no one better to ask then someone who specializes in Obestetrics and/or fertility!!

I'm sorry, but that's very confusing. Not just for me, but yourself!

Have you tried charting temps and checking your cervical mucus? I found that I wasn't ovulating when I thought all because of charting! You should try it. It's FREE at: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/.

Also, try another opk if you like.
