I know how to properly take care of myself if I were to be pregnant. I do drink occasionally on the weekends, that is why I have this concern. No I am not pregnant and do not plan on being pregnant anytime soon. Even though I use proper methods to prevent pregnancy, I know that "**** happens" sometimes even though I do everything I am supposed to. I would NEVER drink if I knew that I was pregnant. I would just like some personal advice from someone who has experienced the same. Thank you

Nature has provided some protection for the baby to guard against these things. I had asked my Dr this question at my last pregnancy because I was worried about this and also I was taking antibiotics at the time I conceived. He said that for the first two weeks the fertilized egg just kinds of floats around in the tube before it implants itself to the uterus. In this amount of time anything that the mother is eating/ingesting is not transferred to the baby. By the time the egg inplants and begins drawing from the mother, most women have realized that they are pregnant in the form of a missed period and can adjust their lifestyle to suit a pregnant women. Of course this does not apply to certain drugs or perscriptions that would stay in your system beyond that two week period-things that could affect your baby as soon as it implants, so still be choosy as to what you put in your body if you are sexually active.

I was 7 weeks pregnant before i figured it out(my periods were never regular) and i had been at my parents for dinner the week before and had a beer... nothing is wrong with my child.. infact when i was 9 months pregnant my doc jokingly told me "to go home have one glass of red wine and wait" did I? no! but the point is like a previous poster said that its the constant exposure that will hurt the child if one drink in the first tirmester did anything then every child in the world would have problems

If you think you are, or may be pregnant dont drink, because the effects on the baby arent good. But if you had a drink or two before you found out you were pregnant, and you found out early, then i wouldnt worry about it so much until you see a doctor. But if there is a chance of you being pregnant, keep away from anything that can harm the baby. :)

When I was pregnant I had a concern with taking prescribed medication prior to finding out I was pregnant. I didn't know I was expecting until three months into my pregnancy. I was so scared I thought about getting an abortion because I didn't want any complications or for my child to suffer from something horrible due to the meds. For my first appointment the OB/Gyne gave her patients a copy of that famous book what to do when your expecting. I quickly found the answer to my concerns. Think about it no one knows that they are pregnant until something confirms it (unless you are trying to get pregnant). Most women have done something that concerns them prior to finding out they are expecting; whether it's take their daily vitamin, drinking or whatever. Luckily most finding are if you stop immediately once pregnancy is confirmed your child has a good chance that he or she will be fine. My child never had any complications and I was happy I didn't decide to abort my pregnancy. It was my first pregnancy and I was really scared.

hhahhah people can misread things it can be fustrating. you know your not pregnant and u drink. your question is quite obvious but my opinion if u fear you might take a drink before u know your pregnant why dont u switch over to virgin drinks till the end of your cycle shows up. other wise just take birthcontrol and use a condom. both combine create [ tech i shouldn't say 100%] but it should be 100%. the pill is like 98% and condoms are like 99% if used properly. do make sure you keep track of everything because alcohol in the first trimester results in the most devistating effect on a baby.

do you mean if you did not know you were pregnant an you had a drink or got drunk before you found out? It happens all the time, usually with no major affect. It takes repeated exposure to a toxic environment to damage a developing fetus, and most women find out they are pregnant and stop partying very early. So just keep using protection and be safe with your partying.

I wouldn't worry about it. Plenty of women are drinkers (many heavy drinkers) and have no idea they are pregnant, and their babies turn out fine. As my doctor explained to me, it is very difficult to mess up a pregnancy. Unless you are trying to get pregnant, which you obviously are not, then there's no need to worry.

I read your last question. And the answer for both is the same. It doesn't matter if you knew or not, drinking during pregnancy is never a good thing.

I doesnt matter if you KNOW or DONT KNOW you're pregnant. The alcohol will harm the baby all the same.
