the best way to find out the facts on this is your local council.
this issue is the reason landlords wont accept ppl on benefits
and I am sorry I cannot tell you why, your local council is the best bet with a simple phone call.
I believe it is because if they dont pay when they should you have to foot the bill, and you cannot ask them to pay you because it is unlawful for you to collect.see what I mean it is complicated use the phone tomorrowand get the proper facts

I think it's the tenants. But any other answer you get may know better than I do. How have you mangaed to become the landlord of a 5 room bedsit without knowing this?

Poll tax is now called "Council Tax". I'm not sure about bedsits - is the property taxed as one whole unit, and is the bill issued to you? Whoever's name is on the council tax bill is responsible for paying it.
If it is down to you, proportion it equally between the 5 units and charge them accordingly but make sure you detail it in the tenancy agreement.

There are a few states WITHOUT state income tax, like florida, texas, and a few others. That is why old people retire to florida. In MN we pay like 7-8% state income tax. When I retire Im moving to a state that has no income tax so my retirement will be worth way more.

The Poll tax was axed years ago, you now have to pay council tax instead, you could break the cost down by having each tenant pay their share, be careful though your tenants may try to find cheaper accommodation.

Firstly, the poll tax was abolished years ago!!
If you mean the council tax then unless it is in the rental agreement that the tenants should pay, you will be liable to pay it.

I'm guessing you mean Council Tax. As long as your tenants have a proper rental contract, then they should pay. Check with the local council to make sure they are registered.

The poll tax has not been around for about 14 years! If you mean council tax, then it is up to you who is liable, according to whatever you put on your tenancy agreement. However if the property is empty, then you are liable for it.

Poll tax?
On furniture?
Poll tax was the price to vote. NO MORE!
Poll tax?
On furniture?
Where do you live?
Are you talking about State Personal Property Tax?
The owner would pay that. I suppose it would be included in the rent.

You don't live there but the property is occupied.
So you do not have to pay any poll tax ( none resident ) but the residents who are resident are liable.
