More like "garbage food"

I work for Applebee's and we are actually classified by the Restaurant Guide, which grades all types of restaurants including fast food places, as casual dining. We are in the same category as Friday's, Chili's, and even Olive Garden.

A few years ago Applebee's chain adopted a new slogan in regard to our CarSide Service program--place a To-Go order and we bring it to you at your car. The slogan is: "It's not fast food, It's good food fast." I knew when we took on that slogan that people may then regard our casual dining restaurant the same way they saw their local McDonald's...and unfortunantly they have.
We do try to get all of our entrees out in a timely manner, our goal is 14 minutes after the server orders the food. But from the time the guest orders their entree and they receive it it can be longer than 14 min. based on other items they may have ordered, appetizers, side salads, etc. Again we do try to be quick but that doesn't make us "fast food". Something I just thought of...If Applebee's can, at least 90% of the time, get your food to you so fast that you would even put them in the category of fast food, wouldn't that be a good thing for the guest? Is being a casual dining restaurant, but having your guests get such fast service that they thing you're fast food overall a bad thing?

Greetings! No, I wouldn't consider Applebee's to be classified as fast food. A fast food place is where you go and get your food quickly. It often comes in a bag, even if you are eating in the store.

I would put Applebee's in the same category as Chili's, Red Robin and TGI Friday's...all trendy restaurants you can take the kids to (as long as you don't sit at the bar).

Take care.

No, I wouldnt consider Applebee's to be a fast food place. The only reason why it might be losely classified as that is because there are so many and its so popular. But its definatly not fast, once it took an hour to get my burger. And they worent very busy.

I wouldn't think so. Although Applebee's is often fast at getting the food out... there are times when the restaurant has a wait for seating. Plus, when I think of fast food I generally think of anywhere that has a drive-thru.

No, its not my favorite restaraunt but it is defenatly not like fast food. Fast food is like a sloppy burger and some greasey fries. Applebee's is a bit more formal and the presentation of the food is much better than places like Mc. Donalds. I'd prefer Applebee's rather than Mc. Donalds any day.

I wouldnt put it in the catagory as Mc D. . Not reallly a fast food to me. I like Applebee's and enjoy eating there . They take their time in preparing the food so its really not that fast.

just a step up from that, sometimes their service is slow food, and their attitudes aren't always that great, but it is a step up from fast food.
