I know and my freinds told me that the Intel Celeron is the worst product I have ever seen because if you got with it 2.8 means half of them which is 1.4 and you can't use it for high video games also you cant use with photoshop, flah, especially with ""maya program and 3D max program"" so what I want to is AMD Athlon like Intel Celeron and please explain thanks alot

Each processor has a useful application, even the Intel Celeron. The Celeron is an economical low power consumption CPU that competes with the AMD Sempron.

I believe your friend is a bit confused on processor specifications though from the statement you listed. First of all, the clock speed isn't necessarily an accurate benchmark for processors. When consumer CPUs were first marketed, clock speeds were a decent way to gauge performance. Now, chip manufacturers are making more efficient chips with lower clock speeds, multiple cores, smaller dies, etc...

What you might want to look at is a benchmark chart that compares processors against certain applications. A fairly popular benchmark site for PC equipment is Tom's Hardware Guide (link for the CPU guide below).

You might also want to look at price for performance guides for CPUs too. These articles come on periodically and are often obsolete as CPU pricing changes pretty quickly. Even if the article is out of date, it still can give you a basic idea of what processors are in your price range and performance need.

no they do not mean the same thing, they are two seperate processors by two seperate companies, the companies are competitors and have products that match something that the other has

if you get an intel celeron with 2.8 Ghz processing speed it doesnt not mean that it actually has a 1.4 Ghz processing speed, that would be false advertising and retarded (like your friend)

if you are looking into buying a new computer you should get a dual core processor, such as an intel core 2 duo, or the AMD equivilent which i do not know off the top of my head but you can ask when you are shopping for a new computer, the companies are virtually the same the only reason to get one instead of the other is if one is on sale (for the most part)
dual core processors such as the core 2 duo come in different speeds (Ghz) but if you have a 2.0 Ghz dual core processor, you can roughly relate that to being a 4.0 Ghz processor (it is not quite that much but its a close enough reference tool) so you double the number to get its full processing speed because a dual core processor is like having 2 processors (so 2 2.0Ghz processors = 4.0Ghz)

dual core is the new technology and if you dont get it then you will be out of date very soon

also try to make sure you get windows xp pro as your operating system rather than the newer windows vista because at this time xp pro is a better system

hope this helps

No, the athlon is not like the Celeron. Try to get a dual core processor though so your computer is not outdated once you get it... in a little bit computers will have quad core processors.

They are different types of processors that process information a little differently
