Hello; It would depend upon what version of macbook you have; how old it is, etc. If it's new, chances are it takes an SATA 2.5" hdd. (SATA is an acronym which stands for Serial Advance technology Attachment).
That other gal has no idea what she's talking about; a hard drive is a unit to store information on, and the CPU (or Central Processing Unit) is the main processor, or the 'brains' for the comptuer... LOL so your hard drive is NOT a core duo Intel...

Macbook uses a SATA HD of about 120 to 160GB. the sata cable is a very small like a usb one. and normally laptop HDs are much smaller than normal ones and are much expensive but more durable

it depends on the model and the brand apple chooses on purchasing don't believe the hype apple uses product that they can cheaply afford which are usually inferior quality products and slower speed.
