It is not unusual for athletes to have oversized hearts to handle the extra work load. That's not a problem by itsef, but a little heart flaw can kill!
It often happens in other sports like basketball & American football too. Heart troubles often are not diagnosed until too late, when a sudden heart attack exposes it.

Sometimes heart problems and defects hide themselves well. Sometimes they go undetected in the young as its not expected to be an issue. I cried when I read articles about this. What a tragic event for one so young and those that loved and cared for him. I have a son this age and I cannot imagine what his family are going through right now. God bless them all and Antonio also. My heart is breaking for his partner and unborn child.
Take care of yourselves guys, life is precious!

sometimes young or apparently very fit people do have heart attacks; it is something that might not show on the outside, but they must have some kind of bodily and/or heart weakness for it to happen.

It has happened before to young American football players, and usually it was because they had taken performance enhancing drugs. I really hope that's not the case, but you have to consider the possibility.
