I would contact the woman who called you and explain to her that your finances are extremely tight. I know atleast depending on the judge you can get monthly payments as low as $5 a month if you explain your situation to the judge.
Let them know that your bills are so much and your income is so much and it only leaves you with X amount at the end of the month be specific, car insurence, car payment, rent (or mortgage) electric, gas, cable, phone, food and toiletries and even how much gas it costs you a week to get to and from work.
If they are reasonable which they should be so long as yuor husband is doing good for himself and has no other legal problems, you may even be able to get it defered for a short time like untill your tax returns or whatever.
If you dont contact them your husband could face jail time for non payment or go back to prison. I dont know your whole situation so hopefully I helped.
We've been through it too so I feel for ya.
Good Luck!

They can send him through probation/parole office for a new report to be submitted to the court. Once they have the details as to his employment, wages, etc. they will most likely bring him before the Judge for a " MODIFICATION ORDER ", and put him on probation ( If he's not already ) AND MAKE IT A PART OF HIS PROBATION that he makes the newly ordered amount!!! IF he doesn't,...they can 1) violate his probation and put him in jail 2) GARNISH HIS WAGES,which the Judge would have to do a separate order on, Due TO NON-PAYMENT/VIOLATION OF HIS PROBATION.......BEST to try to work out something BEFORE he ends up before the Judge!! Not only for the reasons listed, BUT, there will also be fines, costs, and fees the court will add.....I went through the headache.....some times they keep you on probation until the amount is paid in full!! AND BY THE WAY,...PROBATION SUPERVISION FEES (costs) in my state are $360.00 A YEAR!! PLUS you have to go through the hassle of going to the probation office every 2-4 weeks, and wait around a hour or more every time!!!!! Hope you can get this worked out before it "works YOU out ". SO, I REALLY DOUBT "this is just something that happens sometimes" as you ask...... I would take it SERIOUSLY and act on it.... BEST OF LUCK!!

his probation/parole officer can be change at any time with no reason given to you, it is a shuffle of duties in the office. If he does not get back on track paying the restitution, he can be jailed again for failure to pay it. He needs to contact the lady ASAP [go with him] and let her know what is going on with you. my brothers are always in trouble and have learned the probation officers HATE suprises and are more willing to work with you when you are upfront and honest with them.
also, any payment, if not in full, even a token payment of a few dollars, shows you are trying and is that much less you are behind. get caught up asap, even if it means a second job on the weekends at McDonalds

The alternative to restitution is jail. You should have spoken with the clerk of courts when you started having trouble. Maybe you can still speak with this lady and get a chance to pay when you can. Seriously, if you don't pay your restitution you will end up in jail.

stop paying the restitution will result in a violation of his probation which can be revoked, which can lead to the original charges re-instated and possible jail time

He needs to talk to them and explain the situation NOW. If he fails to make the required payments he could go to jail. Simple as that. They can change the payments, however they won't if he does not talk to them.

non payment will be sent to probation and there can be possible jail time because that is violation of the court.
