Mine does this too occasionally whether i have it plugged in USB or by the older way.

It happens to me when i try to run to many programs and move the mouse at the same time. SO I simply wait for them to finishing launching before I move my mouse and now it happens maybe 1-2 x a month on me now.

Recourses can be used up fast and the drivers for many of these new mice will halt if that resource is interrupted so if you are doing a lot at once opening do not move your mouse until it has finished opening or closing.

No guarantee this will work for you but it did for me

My optical mouse does this as well. I usually just pick it up and blow on the bottom where the red light is and this will take care of it for a while. Must be dust that gets in there or maybe it's just bored. Anyhow, this seems to do the trick - at least for a while. Give it a try, it might help. Good luck.

if it's an optical mouse, you might have to bright or flashy a surface that you are using as a mousepad. try something dark and matte.

Weird!
is it possible that you let someone in the past remote control your computer to help fix it and they are now messing with your head????
