Yes, and I'm getting better every day.
Lately, I've been working on cooking meat exactly right. The other night I cooked perfect filet mignons and grilled shrimp with brown butter. My hubby and son were both complimenting me....
They also love my fettucine alfredo, stuffed chicken breasts and roast eye of round with portobello mushroom wine sauce.
If you want to be a great cook too, get Alton Brown's "I'm just here for the food" book. It has a few good recipes, but its the methods that really help. You can adapt lots of things if you know how and why to cook them in certain ways.

Yes. After a long time of attempting, I can finally boil an egg. I can cook Spagghetti bolognese, but I learnt that ages ago. and now I am feeling slightly hungry after reading this question.

well everytime i do cook, on the very rare occasion that is, my guests always want seconds and fight to take the rest home with them, so i reckon that's a good indication that i'm pretty ok

I make a wicked sausage & peppers ..... I'll pan fry the sauages in the secret ingredients and then add sauce cooked down from fresh tomatoes then add Red, yellow & green peppers and then garnish with sliced mushrooms...
....now that's good eating!

yes...recently cooked Crawfish Stuffed Filet Mignon with Crafish Bordelaise Sauce (can be found in one of Emeril's older cookbooks), garlic mashed potatoes, fresh asparagus sauteed with lemon butter and flourless chocolate cake for the dessert! (Special Occasion...but definitely worth the work!!!)
