Ehh, it seems messed up, but there are a couple of good reasons why that might happen:

--If you're invulnerable/bullet-proof, that generally means your body can become a hard surface. And some guns have what's known as a "hair-trigger", meaning if you drop them or throw them on a hard surface, they might go off and randomly "shoot" a bullet in any direction...

So yeah, maybe Superman doesn't want the gun to bounce off, *go off* and randomly hit someone.

--Or...it could just be a forensics thing. As in, you don't make contact with the gun because you don't want to *spoil* any fingerprints or DNA evidence that the criminals might leave on the gun. But then again, that wouldn't explain all the gun-crushing and gun-smashing the old-school, Golden Age Superman did (in in-print continuity of course, not the official one).

In general though I think that is why the more modern takes on the Superman character have focused more on "life saving" and "rescue" kinds of things, or mainly on hero/villain combat, instead of the old-school "crimebusting" that was popular in the old-school, Golden Age Comics. It lets the writers and artists *both* stretch their creative muscles, while at the same time letting them *avoid* the old cliches like this.

(unless of course you consider Bryan Singer's "bullet in the eye" thing as part of continuity in _Superman Returns_...I sure don't)

Thanks for your time! ^_^

bullets are small and fast, he is not able to see those
fists are large and slow, he can see those

natural insticts for any person super human or not.

besides at the speed he flies, he has to think 30 miles or more ahead to avoid acting as a missle and knocking friendly air craft out of the sky.

my real question is, why does he not deal with crime in our nations capital, starting with the senate and the congress and mop up in concentric circles.

just tired of paying the cost to house and feed career criminals.

In the same shows, he has to hit a trampoline before he can fly out a window, too.
