Gotta be Dock Ellis. Who else do you know who would wear hair curlers to practice, trip acid and throw a no-hitter and throw a bat into the stands at a heckler?

But the clincher has to be in 1974, when Dock felt like his teammates were playing too timid and needed inspiration and announced before a game against the Reds, "We gonna get down. We gonna do the do. I'm going to hit these mother****ers." What followed was Ellis beaning Pete Rose, Joe Morgan and Dan Driessen, almost hitting Tony Perez on 4 straight pitches to walk a run home then throwing two pitches at Johnny Bench's head before he was yanked from the game.
Ellis said later, "I tried to deck him twice. I threw at his jaw, and he moved. I threw at the back of his head, and he moved."

I didn't know that about ol' Dock...he sounds sorta like a cross between Bill "Spaceman" Lee and Ty Cobb...the Spaceman was also known to show up at the park under the influence of various and sundry chemicals, and Cobb frequently made news for his fights on and off the field, including those that occurred when he would jump into the stands to pound the sh!t out of hecklers

Obvious you have not read the Biography of Ty Cobb. You talk about off the hook. He used to before each game sit on the steps in the dugout of the opposition sharpening his spikes with a file looking at the other teams shortstop and second basemen with a smirk.

Jose Offerman, Dock Ellis.

I wanna say John Rocker, just because he had the balls to publicly bash New York City, gay people and blacks.

Also, how about Jose Offerman? A few days ago, while in the minors, attacked the pitcher with a baseball bat!

Definately Ty Cobb and Bill "Spaceman" Lee (I loved his book called "The Little Red Sox Book"). Lou Pinella could even be considered, because of his insane temper

Got to go all the way back to Jimmy Piersall who actually was crazy and had to go for treatment. There are many unbelievable stories about him including going into the stands, with a bat, to run down a fan who had been heckling him. Anyone who wants more can go buy the autobiography of his life. Nice question!!

Goin out on a limb I'm going to say Carlos Zambrano, there is no inbetween with this guy, he's either really pumped or really pissed lol. The guy fricken punched his own teammate for making an error. If you showboat a homer, next atbat hes gonna bean you. This guy wears his emotions on his sleeves and when you watch him, he's one crazy @$$ dude.

Jimmy Peirsall was LITERALLY NUTS!!! The guy did stuff that made even his teammates wonder if they were safe around him.

He fought with Billy Martin before a game and then wasn't satisfied so he went after one of his teammates.

Check out the link and tell me he wasn't NUTS!!!
