Real classics?

Citizen Cane.
Casablanca.
Gone With the Wind.
Grand Hotel.
All About Eve.
Twelve O'clock High.
I Remember Mommy.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
It's a Wonderful Life.
Gaslight.

As you can see, I think all the real classics, were made a long time ago.

For newer movies that could become classics.

Rebel Without a Cause.
The longest Day.
American Graffiti.
MASH.
The Rocky Horror Picture Picture Show.
Catch 22.
Easy Rider.
Star Wars.

I know there others.

The Wizard of Oz, it was made nearly 70 years ago and is still going strong!

A modern classic has got to be Grease, 30 years later and everyone still loves it!

Gone with the Wind

but if you're looking for recent movies.....

Forrest Gump? Braveheart? Troy?

I think to be a classic a movie has to be something that most people can identify with in some way, or something that touches them personally.
