Hello folks. I got a new battery for my Suzuki SV650 today. It came with two strips, or racks, of plastic bottles (six in each) containing acid and the instructions only mention using one of these. Do i use both or is the second lot a spare or for topping up later? It is a sealed battery type. Also, one of the first six didn't empty, not pierced properly I guess. Should I take it off before this one empties? I have tried tapping it etc but can't get it to go in. Any advice?

Once sealed, you don't top it up anymore. there should be enough acid in the battery to cover the elements, If you can't see them, use a torch to see if the elements are covered. period.

Sounds a little odd!

Maybe you have got an extra strip by mistake.

If you fill the battery with the first 6 (need to use all 6 as the battery, from the sounds of things has 6 chambers)

The battery should have some type of indicator - line of similar to determine how much acid you have put into it.

Providing the acid is filled to the line all will be ok.

The second batch of acid should be used if the first does not fill the battery properly.

Spare acid is not normally supplied with any battery as top - ups for batteries is done with distilled water.

Wiggle the container up a little (don't fully remove it), then press it down hard to ensure the bottle was punctured properly.
It should only need one - a second was probably included by accident.
Call the manufacture for instructions.
Once the battery has been sealed - never top it up with acid - only distilled water (or pure bottled water).
If you can - bring it back to the place you bought it (did you buy it mail order? - that's the chance you take - some items not returnable).

you should get to white/clear bottles, 6 chambers, turn the acid bottle upside down, it will pierce it, you normally need a secone one to bring it to the right level.. u also should have two/one black strip that clips in at the top of the battery after u have filled the chambers, normally if acid goes in, you will have to stick it on a tripple charge for a couple of hours, otherwise the battery is just gonna go dead again

And a "sealed" battery does not come with acid... its maintence free, ready to stick in ur bike.

sounds suss.

why dont u take it to a mechanic/dealership or someone who knows what there doing
