EXCELLENT POINT! Even a small fee, like 1/10 of a cent per post, would help.

Or, Yahoo could just require a REAL email address from users, from an account that cannot be created for free, and suspend that user and email account when appropriate. A few other sites do this.

PS The collective wisdom of all these posters - present company INCLUDED - is worth something.

Although time is the most precious asset we have. And even the richest man only has a limited supply.

Speaking of Time, I'm loving that symphonic Pink Floyd CD!

PPS The address? Surely you're not referencing the old PBS show ZOOM?

I remember it from the 70s.

You will have made a total fool of me (or I of myself) if you have no idea what I am talking about!

(I also told a particularly gullible co-worker once that I had been a cast member. I had him going for quite a while! I am a sick man.)

I don't care about the points, but you triggered a great memory. I wrote in, and got some cards back from them with games and stuff.

PPPS Bigsky has an interesting point too - the Q and A format really is not the ideal one for debate. Oh well.

The thing is that this isn't a debate site. If you just want to discuss politics you should be doing it at a discussion website instead of an answers forum. The whole point of YA is that you can ask a question to everybody and get an answer. Having it cost money would defeat the entire purpose of the site, even if it slightly increased the overall quality. I wouldn't pay money to ask or answer when I had no idea of the quality or quantity of the responses. If I'm going to spend even a penny I want to know what I'm getting. Try finding a moderated chat room with an entrance fee if you want to avoid trolls.

And I assume you're referencing Boston College with that zip code?

Yes...it would eliminate a good portion of the idiots who come out here with some of the most moronic questions I have ever read. I'd be willing to pay just for the opportunity to have an active sensible debate with good honest hard working people instead of some of the yahoos on here.

Unfortunately, there are idiots that would still pay to be on here :(

***blueridgeliving - Your quote, "Why do you people equate money with "better" ANYTHING?" This is coming from someone, such as yourself, that is for social spending. You assume that more funding for these programs will improve our country but whine and moan when we suggest spending on one thing... and you think that we are totally serious?!

You need to release your anger, Luke Skywalker turned Darth Vader over from the dark side. Maybe you should do the same, you'll be much happier.

After today, specifically, it seems that every 20-30 questions go by with maybe 2 or 3 decent questions.

A lot of jokers would be gone, but then again, everyone on here thinks they're right most of the time.

some might. others on here act idiotic but have decent money or have nothing better to spend their money on.

I'd be gone. I have to pay about $20 a week just to get to my classes and I have tuition and class fees to pay off. I can't take on too many recreational activities that are not free.

one thing upfront: i never paid for any internet site and i never will. paying does not always mean ist better!

would it eliminate "idiots" .....probably a few......but then you would still have the other people who might be posting good material but still have a mean streak in them and have fun harrassing people.

i think its better to ignore the people you don't agree with, the once which are annoying and concentrate on the good part of YC....that is what i do....so far!

At least it would get rid of the guys who start a new account every day (or every hour) just so they can see how many violations they can get. Either that or Yahoo would get rich off them. Either way, it would make me happy just to know they had to ante up to do it.

Just the opposite I am afraid. A lot of critical thinkers would not pay to have their opinions ridiculed. And the hate mongers would surely pay for the privilege.
