how to tell mom about my period?

i dont know how my friend does it, she is so open about it and just announces it around. i could never dream of that.
im just really nervous about how she will react because its been 2 years...and she might be mad or upset. i just dont know when to say it, and when i think i'm going to, i chicken out.

She won't be mad, although she might be a little sad that you felt you couldn't tell her.

You really should tell her. She will find out eventually. Plus, maybe she'll give you money for pads and then you won't have to spend your money on them.

I told my mum the day after, I just came out with it first thing in the morning. I just said, 'Mom, I have blood in my pants.' It was ok, but I did feel embarassed, I didn't plan anything, because I knew I would chicken out. Good luck!

She probably already knows, mothers aren't stupid. When I first got my period I went up to my mom while she was doing laundry and said "Mom, I need to tell you something". I didn't even have to tell her, she said, "You started your period", and I said yes. It is nothing to be embarassed or ashamed about. Did you have friends or aunts or old sisters to go to when you first started? I don't know what I would have done because I only had my Mom and I didn't know what to do. I do know people who had older sisters and went to them because they felt more comfortable.
