When should I test positive?

My OH and I have been TTC for 8 months. My last period was on 28th July. On 20th Aug my ovulation predictor test was positive, we 'did the do' for the follwoing 4 days. My cycle is normally between 30 and 35 days long. I used a First Response HPT around an hour ago but it was negative. What I am after knowing is weather there is a chance that I could still be pregnant?

With a pos opk on Aug 20, you would expect to ovulate either the 21st or 22nd of August. But you say your cycles are between 30-35 days long, then your next period would be due Aug 27-Sept 1. Ovulation happens 2 weeks before your next period comes, so with your cycle length you would have ovulated sometime between aug 12-17th. If you were testing daily with the OPK and didn't see a positive until Aug 20 then your next period won't be due til at least Sept 5. The earliest a home pregnancy test would be accurate is 10dpo and then it is only 65% accurate. For the most accurate results you will need to wait 14 days past ovulation, or about Sept 5 to test.

If you range between 30 and 35 days you should wait until day 35 to test, always wait until you reach your longest cycle day. Also, you want to have sex a few days before you ovulate since the egg only survives 12-24 hours and some OPKs predict that surge right after you have ovulated. You want to have some sperm already there before the egg drops since sperm can survive for up to 3 days inside you. I hear the HPTs at Dollar Tree are more sensitive so you could try them a day or so sooner than the First Response.

well go on babymed.com and enter that in there and it will telling you when to take it ok but you are asupose to wait for 2 weeks after you have sex to take a pregncany tests

you will get a BFP when you get pg.
