The most likely cause is poor circulation in your legs. Repeatedly sitting in the same position can cause stress on the muscles and veins in your legs, butt, back, feet, and more. You should alternate how you sit and if the condition worsens see a doctor, poor circulation in your legs is treatable, but can lead to serious problems like blood clots.

An excerpt from berkeley says that if you always cross the same leg, it can lead to the low back curving sideways!

your legs aren't circulating blood properly and that's why you feel the throb and fall asleep. you can cross them just uncross and stretch them or move them about some btwn crossings.
and remember long term crossing causes spider veins.

Your blood vessels are getting blocked by the pressure on your other leg. Switching legs should help.
