Excuse me, the proper word was pulpit not platform,

and as far as the founding fathers thing goes: That had to do with keeping the govt. form establishing a national religion and also to keep govt from controlling the churches.

ACLU is pretty clear on their stand.

Don't forger about all those supreme court cases to remove 10 commandments from courts and other govt buildings...and also the case to take prayers form schools "because religion doesn't belong in our govt"

it is because they recognize reality. the separation between church and state has been so maligned that the true meaning has been lost.
to me, the constitution prohibits the government from officially recognizing any religion over another. it DOES NOT mean the is to be no reference to religion in government. by treating every religion with the same respect, reference, and does not interfere with a particular religion, there is no harm -no foul.

the nativity in front of city hall is not prohibited by the constitution as long as any other religion has access to a similar display.

this issue has been so bastardized by the left it would make the founding fathers cry.

Why is it that conservatives can't seem to get it through their heads that "separation of church and state" doesn't mean we want to get rid of church or religion? Is it really all that difficult to understand that religion has no place in government? Have you not learned the lessons from non-secular governments like Iran???

A church is a public forum for the candidate to get their message out.

my guess is its much less involved

Church go'ers are simple people and are easily manipulated along religious lines ... both Dems and Republicans will use church leaders and church organizations to coerce people and manipulate votes

let me ask you this, is it right for a President to tell us what religion to follow? ... then why is it ok for a church to tell us which president to vote for?

Any church that asks you to vote for a particular person or party has lost their way, and has become about money and judgment

a church of true faith trusts it members to vote for themselves, and doesn't tell them what to think

Separation of CHURCH and STATE refers to not having a particular religion mandated by the government.
That is what it means.
What you are referring to is NOT what it means.
So...you are wrong.
And....just for the heck of it....tell us where the Democrats are crying for separation of Church and State?
