What most likely happened was your screen's resolution got changed.
Right click desktop -> Properties -> Settings
From here you can adjust the screen's resolution. The higher the resolution the more you can fit on your screen, therefore the more zoomed out it appears.

Could be that he changed the screen resolution. Right click on your desktop, go to "Properties" then find the tab where you can change the resolution. If that's not it, then your laptop might have a built-in zoom feature. My girlfriend's Toshiba has one that you can use by hitting Fn+Spacebar. (You can see a small magnifying glass icon on the spacebar indicating this feature.) Check your laptop for something similar.

Things to check:
Screen resolution - plenty of people already told you how.
Handicap Accessibility - make sure it isn't on
Advanced Adapter Settings - Right-click an empty spot on the screen and choose Properties> Settings tab> Advanced button> General tab and be sure your DPI settings are set to Normal (96 dpi).

Right-click on any empty space on your desktop. Choose Properties, then, Settings.
Use the slide to adjust your screen resolution to your preference.
I like small icons, so I use 1280 x 768 pixels.

He had to have change something. Go to your Control Panel, then choose "Display". You need to change the monitor resolution to a higher number. I don't know what it should be for laptop monitor, but try a few until you get what you had before.

there can be 2 reasons for this.
first, try to change the screen resolution
secondly, if that doesn't help, then do this
right click on destop and then choose appearance tab, there is a option of font size, it must be set to normal

right click on desktop choose properties, goto the settings tab and use the slider on the bottom right to adjust, move it to the right to increase left to decrease and clidk apply
depending on how it is setup you may have to restart it to see the change
