1 cup of peroxide (yep, the good ol' brown bottle) and borax are great alternatives to bleach.

The Sun bleaches you clothes whiter than white. If you have hard to remove stains rubbing in natural soap help´s to remove them, as does dish washing up liquid when adding a small amount and rubbing the liquid into the stain using your finger tips. When your clothes are out in the sun ,if you keep sprinkling them with cold water ever now and then, stains will be removed, And clothes are left whiter than white. Old fashioned way , but it works

I use a powder I purchased at the local grocery store called No More Yellow by Whink Products Company which is located in Eldora IA, USA 50627. You can call them toll free in the US at (800) 247-5102. I love this stuff. I wear white uniform pants and it cleans my whites up really nice and is such a great product. Try it. Not trying to pitch an advertisement, but I really like it. I also hang my whites out on the clothes line. The sun is a natural bleach for whites.

Do your clothes answer you? Read what you asked. I always found that using Final Touch liquid softener when doing my laundry, kept my whites white, especially the kid's socks. Final Touch contains bluing & keeps the whites white. I use liquid Tide & the Final Touch work well together.

If you have hard water, a cup of baking soda is suppose to give bleach a boost.

There is a product called bluette that you can add to your washing cycle with the detergent.
Makes whites 7 lighter colours look brighter.
