They are going to be deployed for a year so it can't just be for the big protest next month. Something smells here people.

"US TROOPS BEING DEPLOYED ON US SOIL - this ONLY happens in case of Rebellion/Civil unrest or IMMINENT ATTACK." (Operation Noble Eagle)

I am not surprised that this is happening now because there is a major Protest (the Anti-War movement are considered "terrorists" by our current government) scheduled on September 15th in Washington D.C.

In early 2006, the 109th Congress passed a controversial bill which grants the President the right to commandeer Federal or even State National Guard Troops and use them inside the United States. This bill, entitled the John Warner Defense Appropriation Act for Fiscal Year 2007 (H.R. 5122.ENR), contains a provision, (Section 1076) which allows the President to:

“...employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to...

restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States..., where the President determines that,...domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order; suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy...” Senator Patrick Leahy and others have condemned Section 1076 because it effectively nullifies the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C. 331-335) and gives the President the legal ability to define under what conditions martial law may be declared.

My alarm bells have been ringing for a long time as far as this President and Cabinet goes.

This Administration has been attempting to pull the wool over our eyes on a daily basis and I’m guessing that “this” is another attempt.

I have to wonder if our military will support our nation, or this corrupt Government. I guess time will tell.

I already answered your question...either you did not understand, or your did not get your "Conspiracy" answer you wanted...do you know how many Military bases are in and around DC...several...I already told you the ADA Unit is going to replace an Active Duty Unit...it is about time, since we do not need the ADA in Iraq or Afghanistan yet...and when they do they will send Active Duty Units because the Reserves do not work with the Patriots only one weekend a month and two weeks a year when Units like the 31st ADA BDE do it everyday...no it does not alarm me...what do you think, they are going to sic the Army on Anti-war protesters? Any show of force would have those cowards running for the hills...it is normal...nothing to be alarmed about...but if you want to be scared of something, go ahead I won't stop you...

EDIT: Don't need a link I was in the Army and we were sending soldiers to the DC Area...I was in a ADA BDE and that was part of the war time contingency that parts of the Unit would defend DC...there are at least 6 Military bases in the DC area...so if they wanted to stop protests, they could without having to call up a Reserve Unit...

EDIT: Wow I got three thumbs downs for the truth...do you Conspiracy folks think that the Military is only used in far off places? The Military has a plan to defend the US incase we are ever invaded...if you lived around a Military Bases right after 9/11 you would have seen part of it in action...we not only train to fight the enemy on their ouwn turf but to defend the Homeland...just thank God we never have had to...

Ahh paranoia. Gotta love the Dem's.

The 265th is part of Operation Noble Eagle.

They are ordered by the president to the nation's capital, where they will operate high-tech weapons systems against any potential air threat.

"Yolanda McCormack is relieved husband Charles isn't headed to Iraq, but there is always a risk.

"Doesn't mean he won't be in the line of fire in Washington, D.C., but it does give me a little comfort," Yolanda McCormack said, whose husband is being deployed."

Maybe he will be in the line of fire..(Drum roll please)!

LoL

Rebuttal: And I answer why not now? There could be a dozen reasons. The currently stationed troops are rotating out, OP-SEC requires a fluid presence. A hereto unknown threat was made, and security has been beefed up to deal with it..etc.

Let's all just thank God they are getting some training, unlike some of the troops overseas.

Just another smoke screen for gullible Americans to choke on.

Probably trying to draw attention away from a Bill they are trying to slip in under the noses of Americans.

We will see.

I don't know what to think about this yet.. it does perk my interest though.. I'll have to do some research into the history of this.. has it been done in the past and for what reason and to what end.. that sort of thing... before I formalize an opinion...
