The Doors
early Pink Floyd
early Tangerine Dream (check out Phaedra and Rubycon)
early King Crimson (even some of their later stuff could be considered psychedelic)

Donovan- anything by him

The Monkees had a couple of really good psychedelic songs- "The Porpoise Song" is really well done IMO and I love "Pleasent Valley Sunday"- Their movie "Head" was excellent. But I like wierd independant movies like that- I think you might enjoy that soundtrack as well.

The Rolling Stones album "Satanic Majesties Request" is kind of out there for them- but a great album!

You should get the Woodstock Soundtrack- fantastic

Jefferson Airplane- anything by them

The Doors

Jimi Hendrix

"Hot Smoke and Sassafrass" by the Bubble Puppy. My dad always liked that song, and when I heard it- well- find it and have your own experience with that.
