I moved to fla from NY in 1992 with a job, and it's not as cheap as I had anticiapated, so be sure you do your research. Rents are somewhat cheaper (but NOT many hundreds of dollars) and MOST jobs pay a huge amount less- so you come out way behind budget wise. I don't want to discourage you but it's really important to know the #'s for the area you plan to move to.

Florida is a hot place to live. really hot. It'll take time for you to get used to the heat, alligators, and homes with cinder block walls for the hurricanes . Massachusetts on the other hand, has all four seasons and both the sea and the small quaint towns with that historical aspect.
Have you ever thought about VA?

It depends on the laws of the state. Typically you'll have to ask for permission from the court to move. You have a right to move if you want, but in your situation, not only does moving affect you and your child (whom you have the right to make decisions for), but it may also interfere with the child's father's right to see your child. Go talk to an attorney and see what he suggests. He'll be more familiar with the laws of your state than any of us on here. Family law issues are very state-specific so what may be so in one state may be different in another. Good luck!
