The best way I found is to lay or hang it in the sun all day. I have feather pillows and wash them about once a year, then I put them in the dryer. When I do this I use half what I normally use for detergent, and give it an extra rinse. Or you can put it in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet. Good Luck

Put two layers of pillow cover and wash both every time you do your laundry.
You can use heavy cotton T-shirt as first cover and regular pillow cover over the T-shirt.

After 2 years 30% of your pillow weight is dust mite droppings.
You should change out your pillows at least every year.

Use a pillow protector under the pillow case.Easy to wash and keep clean.
Fluff up your pillow in the dryer once a week.Even better, hang it out in the sun.Keep it washed when necessary and use the gentle cycle on your washer.
I usually wash mine once a month and the protector every week.

Use two pillow cases.

You can actually buy pillow cases with zippers that go under the case you sleep on. Wash them both at the same time.
