Well, if you're in love, then it should be "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." If you feel "Out of sight, out of mind," then to me it must mean you don't miss that person & are not even thinking of them. Maybe that's why some people take a break from eachother? To see which way they feel?

It all depends on how you feel about the person when you are with them. If I have a girlfriend who I don't love and is just someone I am passing the time with then it is "out of sight, out of mind." If I truly love someone and I have to be away from them for a while then it is, "absence makes the heart grow fonder." Do you understand what I mean?

With my husband, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder".
When we have had too much time together, we have nothing to talk about and can get on each others nerves. When he goes out for a bit, he comes home happy to see me and he has tons of things he wants to tell me about his thoughts and experiences.

depends on the length of time, a few days apart is like a vacation, I miss my wife but I enjoy having some free time for golf or whatever. However anything longer than 3 days or so and I really start to miss my wife and want to see her again.

I guess in my STB ex-wife's case, it is "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" (especially because her lover has moved in with her).
