I think, when you choose to represent an entire group of people, you must make the choice to have your life examined and your daily life must be re evaluated.
Politicians should have added in their oath to protect the integrity of the people they choose to represent, and in no way harm or foul the views of those persons.
By the way, I'm a Democrat for now!

I'm registered as a Democrat because I was young and foolish, but I consider myself an independent lower case "l" libertarian. I presume you're getting at what I expect from them in their "private" lives.
I expect honesty and stability. Cheating on their spouses (unless they have an open marriage) is at least a minor concern, because it indicates dishonesty. Drug use is a concern because it indicates recklessness.
I also expect them to practice what they preach. Here are some examples:
If they are wealthy, they should probably be generous to charity, if they're supporting one of the two party lines we hear most. If they are a leftist who wants to expand government entitlements, they should start giving away some of their money before asking for mine. If they are a conservative who says that we can dismantle the welfare state because private charity will pick up the slack, they should set an example. If they are opposed to school vouchers because public schools should be educating our kids, they had better not be sending their kids to private schools.

I do not belong to either party. I vote for the person not the party. I am generally conservative but in the last election cycle I voted for a Democrat for House and a Republican for Senate because they were the best people for the jobs.
I expect a politician to:
1. Follow the laws
2. Be honest
3. Stick to their committments (including marriage vows)
4. Treat the opposition with respect and civility and be willing to compromise with those they disagree with in order to actually get things done
5. Remember that you work for us, be accountable to your constituents
6. Focus on the business of our nation - don't go on unnecessary junkets or participate in filibusters

I don't give a crap what a politician does in his bedroom. He can dress up like Mickey Mouse and screw dwarves if that's what he likes.
I require that he be honest with the American people, that he be smart, and that in public he presents a demeanor, skill and intelligence that gains respect in the world.
I require that he admit errors and change his mind if the situation demands it. I require that he insure that our armed forces are used properly and are not wasted unnecessarily.
I require that he appoint people based solely on merit, not on their "loyalty" to the party.
I require that he keep his "faith" private, and if he wants to be an atheist or worship satan in the privacy of his own home, that's fine with me.
I require that he respect the constitution in all regards, that he allow and in fact encourage reasonable and lawful dissent, and that he be held accountable for all mistakes.
I am an "independent", not affiliated with any party.

I am far less concerned with their personal conduct as I am with their political conduct. The standard I expect on a personal level is to simply obey the laws of the law. I couldn't care less if they cheat on their spouses or are closet homosexuals.
Conservative, registered Republican....leaning Libertarian.
