Overheating!

Probably the plug to control the fan for the CPU is loose, or worse the whole CPU cooler is loose (but that you would notice). Have your case opened by an expert to tell what you happened.

Good luck with it!

Usually that means the PC is overheating. Open it up and clean all the dust out of it, especially anything on the fans. Make sure that the vents are open and clean. A can of compressed air (about $3-4 at Walmart) will do a good job.

If the problem continues, then you may be looking at a bad power supply. Replacing that will run you about $50 if you do it yourself (or offer to buy a McDonald's meal for you geek to get it done for you).

It is probably overheating. Try placing a fan next to it and see if it stays on longer. One of your fans on your MOBO may have gone out. I suggest opening the case and turning the cpu on to see what happens.

Oh God, it is about to explode. Judging by those patterns, you have about 1.5 minutes. Hurry, you must unplug it, cover it in oatmeal or some sort of puddy and then throw it out your window. This is all part of Microsoft' scheme to take control of the world!
