Idaho Sen. Larry Craig, who has voted against gay marriage and opposes extending special protections to gay and lesbian crime victims, finds his political future in doubt after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from complaints of lewd conduct in a men's room.
According to the prosecutor's complaint, obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, airport police Sgt. Dave Karsniam, who was investigating allegations of sexual conduct in airport restrooms, went into a stall shortly after noon on June 11 and closed the door.
Minutes later, the officer saw Craig gazing into his stall through the crack between the stall door and the frame, fidgeted with his fingers and returned to gazing through the stall for about another two minutes.

It is ok for Politicians to behave in this manner? What happened to keeping these things in your own home, behind closed doors, have they no shame?

I think we can all agree that soliciting sex from strangers in public restrooms is conduct we don't want to see from our politicians.
At least I HOPE we all agree.
NO presidential candidate from either major party favors legalizing same-sex marriage. So some would say that the personal lives of any of them are fair game, to expose any "hypocrisy."
It could be a turbulent election season, if this is the case.

And these people have the gall to criticize Bill & Hillary Clinton, right or wrong the Clintons are far more normal Senators Craig, Foley and Hastert. So much for your "Family Values" GOP. If you have folks who tip toe through the tulips, at least own up to it.
He was peeking into a public bathroom at an airport policeman, then when the officer showed no interest, he gave his Congressional business card to the officer, like it's supposed to make it ok.
He was known to be a steadfast blowhard conservative who has opposed gays in the military and gay marriage, on top of the fact he has a wife and family, he is doing a poor job of protecting. I am always suspicious of conservative "family values" blowhards; they tend to be hipocrites who are trying to compensate for something! Like not having the homelife they pretend to have!

Soliciting anonymous sex in public restrooms is actually quite common among the closeted gay community.
But this guy's defense stretches all credulity: "I pled guilty even though I didn't do it because newspapers are accusing me of doing stuff just like it." (?!?)
He has moved beyond simple hypocrisy. He is now also a bald-faced liar.
I feel sorry for his family, but he should resign immediately.

The problem for Larry Craig is NOT justifying his sexuality so much as trying to justify over twenty years of hypocrisy, lies, and a rabidly anti-gay agenda.
As for where he had sex: Larry Craig is a wealthy elite...Hey Larry! Got get a motel room!

If he were really guilty of what the officer said, then why did they not charge him with a crime, why did they let him plead to just disorderly conduct?

What really gets me is the fact that Larry Craig is obviously a hypocrite, just like Ted Haggard. They criticize homosexuality and support legislation that discriminates against gays, yet in their private lives they don't hold themselves to the same standard. And as you just pointed out, what's worse is the fact that Craig couldn't even keep it private!

So, he's a perv.
I watched, and the officer stated he made a gesture that stated he wanted to participate in lewd conduct. What gesture would that be?
Also, he must have, because he plead guilty.

I don't think this would be acceptable behavior even if he were in favor of gay rights, etc. People of all sorts shouldn't go around attempting to have sex in public restrooms. It is just disgusting.

As Craig would say he's been a 'bad boy, a naughty boy'.
Larry Craig is the worst form of hypocrite, and the GOP should be pushing him out the Senate door.
