What you are describing is perfectly normal. It sounds like you are ovulating on those 2-3 day periods. A lot of women will bleed a little, or have a little excessive discharge during ovulation. Ovulation is when the egg is released from your ovary into your fallopian tubes. This is when your uterus begins to develop a lining (cushion for a baby).

Again, there is nothing wrong, but if you are really worried about it, then talk with your mom or school nurse. They may suggest seeing a doctor about it.

It takes up to a year and a half after your first period, for your cycles to become regular, so what you are experiencing is quite normal. If however you have bleeding that is 10 or more days long, or you are changing one pad or tampon in an hour or less, this would need to be evaluated by a doctor. As far as brown discharge, this is just old blood that the body is just trying to get rid of. Unless it lasts for an extended amount of time, or is accompanied by a foul odor, it is quite normal and nothing to be concerned about.

it is normal for your first 2 years to be irregular because your body is regulating. But hun, I was irregular since 1999 when I started and didn't regulate until I got put on the pill in 2007.

But if you continue to have two periods a month...you might need to go and talk to a doctor. They might put you on the pill to regulate you, not for sexual reasons.

Also, the color should range from bright red, dark red, to shades of brown. Blood turns brown when it gets old, so that is why when you are towards the end, your stuff comes out brown (I know it isn't really blood...but it's easiest to explain).

if you only started them in May it will take time to become regular. It could take a while to even out and become regular but on the other hand you may stay irregular. Keep doing what you're doing and track the dates. Keep an eye on them til next May and if things aren't better then go and see the Dr to see if any birth control would be beneficial for you, to control the period, not for you to have sex. Take the information that you've gathered with you, it will help them understand what you've been going through.

You period will be irregular for at least 2 years after you first get it. There is nothing wrong with you. It just takes a girl's body awhile to get used to all of the new horomones. There is no need for you to take pills. It will become regular eventually.

(the brown discharge is old blood. Completely normal. Most girls get it at the beginning or end of their periods)

OMG, I started on April the 23rd. I only ever had 4, one every six weeks. For 2 days. If any one can answer this, will they become more often and stay for longer.
And btw, I heard they take from six months to 2 years to get regular.

your period will be irregular for a while but it will settle down in time. it can take about a year to see some kind of regularity but mine is still not that regular and i started when i was 10... im 19 now!

it's more or less around the date it should be but i never know exactly when aunt flo is gonna visit. i promise itl settle in time but if it doesnt settle after more than a year try going on BC pills if you find this better. and they stop acne too!

good luck and welcome to womanhood!

It's okay, your period will not be stable for awhile or until you've gotten older...mine still hasn't and I'm almost 18. So, don't worry about it much because there really isn't much you can do for irregular periods except be put on birth control, and I wouldn't do that at a young age yet. So, just go with it.

I think you should talk to your doctor. You normally are irregular when you first start but you are having too many periods.

You may have to go on a very light dose birth control pill so you can regulate them to every 28 days. There are hundreds of girls/women on this type of pill for the same reason.
