I'll never forget it...Thanksgiving weekend 1999...Georgia at Georgia Tech.
The Dawgs and Yellow Jackets played a tight ball game. Towards the end of regulation UGA RB Jasper Sanks was tackled a couple yards short of the goal line. The ball popped out after he hit the ground. It was ruled a fumble, but the replay showed it obviously wasn't. (So obvious, that the SEC crew was later suspended from calling the SEC Champ game in Dec.) UGA would have attempted a chip shot FG for the win. Instead the game went into OT, and GT won.
I despise GT, so this one hurt pretty badly.
A close 2nd is Dan Marino's 4th down conversion, allowing Pitt to beat Georgia in the Jan. '82 Sugar Bowl. I was only 8...Twenty-five years later, still trying to live that down. :0)

As an Oklahoma fan, I can say that I've never witnessed flat out cheating by the referees to make their team win the game like that Oregon game! It is the worst thing that has happened in sports since the USA got cheated out of the basketball gold medal against the Russians in 1972.
The Boise State game was painful but they won fair and square. We would beat them 9 of 10, but that was their night. We screwed up early and dug ourselves a hole. Then we came storming back and took over the game, but they executed a few trick plays to perfection and won. It was one of the best football games ever - we just came out on the short end. We just haven't been quite the same since Mike Stoops left for Arizona four years ago.

1st I agree with you on reporting racist content!
The most painful moment in sports would have to be last year Dallas at Seattle in the playoff and Tony Romo pulled a Charlie Brown!! I wasn't home watching the game but it took MONTHS before I could watch a replay of it on tv. I have been a cowboys fan since birth, as if my father would allow anything else, and have seen some boneheaded moves before. Does anybody remember the Thanksgiving Game with Leon Lett celebrating before he actually scored and the got the ball back to win the game? Well last year hurt more than that!

The Boilermakers losing in the 2001 Rose Bowl to Washington. The missed field goal with 5 to go really just dashed all hope of pulling that game out. (Though not Travis Dorsch's worst moment as a Boiler) And really, the whole game was just heartbreaking to watch. I've seen some pretty devastating Boilermaker loses, but that one was pretty significant.
Edit: Wow, I love these people that didn't even bother to read your whole question!

The second SF ARZ game last year. I am a huge 49ers fan and losing to the Cardinals is just sad, especially twice in one season. That game also took us out of the playoffs. I have been lucky most of the time being a 49ers fan so I can't complain too much. It does suck that we get rid of all of our good WR's though (Jerry Rice, T.O., Brandon Lloyd, Cedric Wilson, don't be surprised if we get rid of Darrell Jackson this year).

First off, don't report people it is childish. Just don't read what you don't want to see.
To answer your question, the most heartbreaking moment in my football watching lifetime occured during a playoff game. It was Raiders vs Patriots. I am sure you remember the scene. Snowy as can be, the infamous no-fumble call. Was SUCH a horrible call and ruined the Raiders post season. I was pissed off for like a month.

Cheap trick . . . using Vick to get people's attention. But it worked!!!
I'm a Buffalo Bills fan, so you might be able to guess my TWO worst moments of my football life:
1. Wide Right!
2. Music City Miracle
Sucks being a Bills fan!

Two come to mind 2005 when USC beat UCLA for the seventh freaking time in a row. 66-19. It was like USC stuck a knife in the heart of UCLA fans. The other when both the RAMS and Raider left in unison in 1995. :(

The LSU- Auburn game last year. That was the worst officiating Ive ever seen. It may have cost LSU the SEC and national title last year, cause I dont think they would have lost the rematch with Florida in the SEC championship.
