Smile once in a while? (LOL) You don't really have to look approachable at a gym, you know? I don't think anyone wants to be approached while their sweating and trying to shed some fat. I think I'd be the same way...you don't know anyone and you aren't there to meet anyone...you're there to work out! But I don't know...there isn't any reason to be shy or to feel uneasy. Just remember everyone is there for the same reason and everyone should be able to respect that. If you should see someone looking your way just give em a little smile, which shows you are very self confident and a nice person. Don't think people are judging you, because most are just worried about being judged. I hope this helps, and better luck to you next time you're at the gym.

Who cares? Your at the gym to work out, not to be approached and chit chat. I used to work out at a gym where a lot of people from my former h.s. were also members. I wound up switching to a new gym because I like to get in work out and get out and was annoyed that I had to make small talk for a few minutes with every person I saw. What does your bf want you to be approached for anyways, it's gonna be guys hitting on you if anyone is approaching you at the gym.

That's a strange thing for your boyfriend to say. Most guys would be quite happy about that.

I would be asking myself why? does he want you to look aproachable. You are in the gym for pete's sake. Isn't that the place to exercise. Why would he think otherwise. I think your boyfriend has the problem, not you. Tread carefully.
Don't let him start contolling what you think ,feel or look like. It will only get worse. Be yourself. Never mind what your boyfriend thinks. After all, there must have been something about you that was aproachable or why is he there.

Im exactly the same,to be honest i dont want to be approached,i just want to crack on with my workout. What you can do is smile as you walk past people, its really easy to get talking to people as you share a common interest.Ask people for advice and tips even if you dont need them, it just breaks the ice.I know its difficult to look approachable when your bright red and sweating!!

It dosen't matter if you smile or not. Because nobody cares except your bf. Your at a gym to workout. Not pick guys up. But if you were. Then maybe shoud smile more. But just keep doing what you usually. If that makes you feel comfortable.

Why would you want to be looked upon as anything else? You are there to shape up not care what other people think. If you were going there to work it, then I would suggest smiling a little more

You go to the gym for yourself, don't you? Why should you care much about other people? Still, if that bothers you, try looking in the mirror often and keep your face expression calm.

the gym is not a place to be approachable, its a place to work-out i dont think anyone approaches anyone in a gym unless its an instructor, nobody looks happy in those places or talks while they are keeping fit.

I didn't know that you boyfriend expected you to make new friends etc and socalise at the gym .. tell him to bugger off as you go to work out, not to eye up the ladies as it's obvious that he's doing so!
