Hospital would be much easier, plus they feed you. It would be better because you have a few days to rest, at home you need to get up right away and start taking care of business.

Even though I have never had a kid I personally would perfer a hospital setting. While it will cost more, they can handle all of the important stuff. Though I know there are doctors and nurses for hire that will help you for a home delivery. I don't think either one is really better than the other unless their are complications with the birth. In which case at a hospital they can rush the newborn into an emergency room. There are a bunch of people who have done home births and have been just fine. They still had to take the baby to the hospital to check up on it.
Check out some of the websites below
Hope that helps :-)

I personally had a c-section in the hospital (no choice - baby was premature and she was breech). However, my cousin gave birth at the hospital but used a mid-wife. Which was good because an emergency did occur and if she had been at home there would have been a definite possibility of her losing the child as well as her own life. So, I say if you want to use a mid-wife go ahead but give birth in the hospital just for peace of mind.

A hospital delivery is what I would probably choose, but home delivery would probably be the most natural way. If you think about it, at one point I'm sure not everyone was born in a hospital. Though if you had an emergency situation I'd definately want the medical care right at hand.

I havent had a child myself yet, but as long as I don't find any complications that will need hospital attention at birth, I want to go with home delivery. The risks show that at home is no riskier than hospital delivery. Many researches have found that planned home birth, when attended by a licensed and regulated midwife, is no more dangerous than hospital birth for mothers or babies.
Patricia McNiven, who has been in midwifery for almost 20 years, says, “The most common complications at birth are maternal bleeding and fetal distress — the baby having difficulty breathing — and we carry equipment to manage both of those." There is even research to suggest that home birth can be good for mom and baby. A project conducted out of the University of Copenhagen in 1997 looked at six controlled studies covering around 24,000 low-risk women planning home or hospital births. When researchers compared the outcomes, they found that mortality rates were not significantly different between the planned home and planned hospital groups, but the planned home birth group had fewer low Apgar scores and fewer severe maternal lacerations (cuts or tears). There was less medical intervention in the planned home birth group as well: fewer inductions, episiotomies, assisted deliveries and Cesareans.
So I personally would go for the at home delivery. Good luck on your decision, hope the paper comes along well.

I am doing a hospital delivery with a mid-wife. I prefer the mid-wives to doctors!! I do feel safer being in an emergency setting; especially since i live so far from civilization.

I personally feel more comfortable being in the hospital in case something did go wrong. I had my son in the hospital and it was a great experience. My boyfriend's sister wanted to have it at home, was there going through labor, but couldn't have the baby naturally so she had to go to the hospital and she had a c-section. Not that home delivery is more dangerous, that's how it use to be done.

I felt so much more comfortable having a hospital birth. My first daughter was premature and the second one was five minutes away from being an emergency C-Section. I had been pushing for 3 hours. Finally my doctor told me that I had five minutes left to get the baby out or they would have to take it by C-Section. Hospitals give you sense of comfort knowing you have people right there to take care of you and your baby. I have been to a home delivery. It was drawn-out and tiresome for the mother and family. It was a lot messier also since you don't have nurses to constantly clean you up and clean up towels and stuff. I also had a midwife who delivered my daughters at the hospital, so I got the best of both.

If you live within 10 minutes of a hospital, a home birth is very safe.
Actually, a lot (not all) of complications are CAUSED by interventions at hospitals like monitoring, pain meds, pushing in the prone position, being restricted to bed, induction, etc.
But there are some definite times when the hospital is much safer. But with a low risk pregnancy, it's home birth with midwives for me all the way baby!

It depends on whether you want to have a natural birth or not. Personally I enjoyed being in the hospital in case of an emergency. I also had an epidural. Plus, there is no mess to clean up after, and the RN's are very helpful with your recovery in the days following the delivery.

I have personally chosen hospital delivery for both of my children. I would be afraid to deliver at home because if something were to happen to my baby, he/she wouldn't have doctors and nurses waiting to whisk her away to intensive care. There is also the risk of something happening to the woman and needing emergency surgery or an emergency c-section. I would rather be in a place where doctors can tend to me immediately rather than waiting for an ambulance to pick me up and take me to the hospital. Good luck on your paper!
