Imagine a right triangle whose base has zero length. The top angle has zero measure, and the base angle is 90°, just like the right angle opposite.

I know such a triangle isn't a triangle anymore... but when you reduce the base to the extreme, it makes sense. You get sin90 = 1 and cos90 = 0.

draw a right triangle with another angle of > 85 degrees and you will see --- (sin = opposite side / hypotenuse)
