simply purchase a USB card with USB 2.0 slots. You can find it very cheap (< $10) at most computer stores.

The version of USB is (unfortunately) determined by the hardware, not the software or a setting on the PC. If the PC is a desktop, and you have an unused slot in the back, you can purchase a USB 2 card for $20-30 and add it to the PC. Usually gives you 4 or 5 more ports. If it is a laptop, the make PC Cards that go in the card slot on the side of the laptop. They usually only give you one port (not enough room in the laptop for more) so you have to have a hub if you need more. Depending on the hard drive, it may not work on a hub.

Most motherboards the P-3 bellow 500 MHz come with onboard USB 1.0 and u cannot upgrade it. But u can buy a USB 2.0 PCI Expansion card and plug it into your PC, no drivers required for the card itself.

you did not mention what OS u are using, if win 98 u will need device drivers for devices you may plug into the USB 2.0 card, but if you have win XP no need to worry.

If you've already upgrading to Windows XP Service Pack 1, then your only option is to buy a new computer (or motherboard, if you're tech savvy). You can also buy a PCI card.

what you need to do is chance your current usb pci card for a usb 2.0 pci card, you have to open your computer tower to do this.
