They care temporarily...until their lives get back to normal. Remember how patriotic everyone was immediately following 9/11?! Now look at the U.S.
I do agree; we are just setting ourselves up for history to repeat itself.

It really does seem that most people are ignorant about their own history, let alone history of the world in general.
As an excuse, I offer the fact that people are so busy nowadays and there is so much bombardment of all types from every which way...It is literally impossible to learn the history of one country thoroughly.
Having said that, people really should know the date of December 7, 1941 and the events leading up to it, including the fact that the U.S. cut off the oil supplies to Japan!

Because it is the past. We care but the bombing of Pearl Harbor but it is history that has been resolved. We continually make new history. The war in Iraq, the Mummy finding in Egypt, the economy, and many other thing going on right now. All the history that has happened is taught and learned about so we don't repeat it and make the same mistakes or triumphs, like a lesson learned. But history has been know to repeat itself.
People care! We know what has happened, but in this world we are pioneers that are out to make new history.

People only seem to care about the dates that let them have a day off work. Unfortunately when history is rewritten and distorted for political gain, it will be repeated.

I believe as a majority people care, but, like me, wonder what we can do to avoid history repeating itself? Unity as a world group seems to be the only answer to survival of the world (actually, unity in believing in one God), but therein lies the problem. We can never agree on major decisions; nation to nation, individual to individual. We can't even agree to disagree and get along! Do you have any insights on what we can do? Also, having every male generation fight in every war has kept the history 'alive' for me. Others tend to just focus on their day to day lives, acknowledge the news exists 'out there' and that's the extent. How can we be more involved in our world events?

And yes i do remember Pearl Harbor.
I talk about it when i can because it was such a cowardice and horrific attack.

I care, but first we should check that what they are telling us about our history is all true. I do suggest watching the film 'Ground Hog Day'
