Credit card companies charge the business per transaction.
Discover card and AmEx are two of the most costly to accept.
Therefore you will see most business only accept Visa and Mastercard.

I only took Visa and MC. Discover and AmEx take more in fees. Visa and MC got 6% of the total bill, and Discover and AmEx wanted TEN percent! No way. My margin wasn't that big in the first place to be able to afford them.

credit card companies or terminals or something charge a certain percentage of each transaction. some charge more for certain card companies. i know american express and discover usually cost the business more than other card types. that's also why some companies have a minimum purchase amount for card transactions.

Their fees are higher than other cards, and unlike Amex which also charges a bit higher, it's just not as popular.

Actually, I worked at CVS Pharmacy for awhile... they didn't take them... my friend worked at some store in the mall... they didn't take them either. I honestly don't know. I'd never recommend getting one because of it. Visa/mastercard seem to always be accepted though. Sorry couldn't really help you out! <3
