I think that most people think that is just the way "things" are going to be, and that they can't do much about it.
As for the rights that are being stripped from us daily, people will not realize that is a serious issue until it affects them! Remember the old "saw":? "They came for the Jews, and I'm not Jewish, so I did nothing. They came for the Blacks, but I'm not Black, so I did nothing. They came for the homeless, but I have a home, so I did nothing. They came for the poor, but I'm not poor, so I did nothing. They came for me, and there was no one left to do anything!!!!"

It's all total complacency. Most Americans, despite the crap that goes on in Washington, live pretty well. So they don't see the need to get involved.
Frankly, the Founding Fathers didn't expect the 'common people' to get all that heavily involved in politics. In the original framing of the Constitution, Senators were selected by the state governments, not by direct election. Presidents were selected by the Electoral College, but the people didn't vote for President. People voted to select the people who would choose the President, not for the President himself.
So, ask this: who do you think is better suited to choose the President of the most powerful country on the face of the earth: a bunch of people with only a vague grasp of what the office really means, people who can be swayed by television ads, people who don't have access to the information they need to sort out the truth from the lies? Or people who know the needs of the office, who know who to ask, who have dealt with the candidates over the years, who know their background and prejudices and policies, and who know if they can be trusted?
I think the Founding Fathers may have been a lot wiser than we give them credit for. Jefferson belived that the Constitution that he signed would always attract wise, noble men with a commitment to public service. Every change that we have made, or allowed to come about, in the electoral process has only served to attract money-grubbing, power-hungry men who enter the office with the sole purpose of seeing what they can get out of it.

It’s time to clean house in congress.. vote most of them out and replace them. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU VOTE. Check the candidates voting records. There are plenty of FREE resources available to do so.
Linked below are two of the best I know:

And just what do you think you will accomplish by getting rid of these so called corporate giants? From where I sit, liberals are giving more and more power to the government, which we know to be inept.

The answer to that question is easy! Fox News, and the lies they spew out daily, are keeping too many of the people asleep. *sm*

I don't enable ineptness. I think that this rant of yours points to your own inability to get your agenda accepted. I don't think that there are many people in the group you label "people like you and I" unless you have a mouse in your pocket.
