However, when I play the same DVD on my other player, and my computer's players, it plays just fine. Could it be that the one DVD player needs cleaning?

I did wipe the surface of the DVD. It plays on my other players, just not on that one player. I can't even forward over the spot. It sticks even when forwarding it.

If it freezes at the same spot each time, then there is probably some dirt or dust on the disk itself. It may also be the case that your other DVD player and the computer DVD player are newer or are more advanced in that there may be some error correction software that is being used so that it will try to reread or correct the bad block on the disk. It if just freezes at random, then you are probably right in that the drive is beginning to fail.

Good Luck.

Hi. Possibly but if it's the same spot on the DVD maybe you should clean the DVD surface. Most player do need to have the guide rails cleaned every few years.

Sounds like it.
Get a microfiber cloth anyhow and clean the dvd
Get a dry dvd lens kit and put into your drive.

i use an old trick since i'm broke and can't afford one of them fancy CD repair thingys.....well i use peanut butter to buffer the CD.....and you want to wipe it from the inner of the CD to the outter portion of the CD you don't want to go and wipe it around in a circle because that will just scratch your CD even more....well you do this with a dry cloth....if you use a wet one then it will just wipe out all of the peanut butter.....it's always worked for me.....=] good luck
