I have a ScanDisk 512 MB Compact flash camera card. I used to be able to take many pictures with this card, but recently it only allows a few pictures to be taken before getting full. I can only take about 5 pictures OR if I take short 60 second video it alerts me the camera card is full.

I kind of gave up and thought I should buy a replacement, but I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem or knows why this happens? Is the card just konked out?

Thanks for your thoughtful answers.

Use a memory card reader and make sure you get everything off of it. Do a FULL FORMAT in the camera you use. It sounds like you have CORRUPT files that has not been released back to the camera. It should give you ALL your space back.

Hi. The SanDisk sound like it has data stored on it, either video or pictures or data files. If you have your pictures backed up to your PC then reformat the card. Your camera is the best way to do this and it should be in the menu someplace.

Once you know that you have the pictures on the card saved, I recommend try to reformat the card. That can be done from you computer using your card reader (if you have one) or by going through your camera options.

If you want to try and save your memory card instead of replacing you could try to formatting your card. It sometimes improves the performace of it. Here a link for that:

If you do decided to replace it I bought one from http://www.walmart.com/ that was a 4GB and only about $40. Which is a REALLY good deal. I've also bought a couple from eBay that were less expensive but not worth the crap.. so just to warn you about them!

Good luck to you!

Go to the camera menu...select sd disc or outside memory...You are operating on your camera memory only...(which is very limited)

try formating your memory to delete/remove all files.if possible format it from your camera if you camera offer formating. and check also the setting of your camera. high quality setting and high resolution setting eats memory space.

sometimes when you delete files incorrectly it doesn't realize they're gone. reformat it; there should be something in the menus somewhere.
