"In Iraq, our troops are taking the fight to the extremists and radicals and murderers all throughout the country. Our troops have killed or captured an average of more than 1,500 al Qaeda terrorists and other extremists every month since January of this year. (Applause.)"

~ The Great Liberator George W. Bush in his speech to the VFW

Does Bush's policy of fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here......is it working?

I know ONE thing. That's 1,500 terrorists a month that can no longer attack us on our soil.

Thanks for keeping us safe Mr. President

I used to agree with fight them over there so we dont have to fight them here when I was in the military,

now my thought process is, whats causeing them to want to fight us there in Iraq?

I am not for cutting and running and agree with the neoconservative philosophy of attacking Saddam's government in 2003,

I just think we need more troops on the border so they aren't flooding into Iraq, go after the cause of why new soliders against civilization are being recruited, these wack job mosques and the poverty stricken regions they come from.

If not we're in this war for time eternal and thats not a good strategy.

I agree with the Powell Doctrine regarding Iraq, where is the exit strategy.

I will answer your question this way--how much killing was going on before we invaded Iraq?

Now it's true that Sadaam was a brutal dictator. I never agree with someone like that in power, however; he did keep order over there.

And, after seeing what our troops are going through, I can see why they needed someone like Sadaam to keep things in order.

There was never any credible proof that Sadaam allowed terrorists to train in "his" country. Sadaam liked being the one in charge.

Also, think of this. Sadaam had many doubles. Here's my question to you--how do we know for a fact that the real Sadaam was hung?

Now, to answer the 1,500 terrorists that can no longer attack us here. When did we ever have this problem of that many terrorists attacking us here. The total on the four planes don't even come close to 1,500.

Questions even linger if there were any middle easterners on the planes.

Considering these planes were allowed to fly off course for more than an hour, you have to ask yourself why didn't NORAD intercept these jets and shoot them down?

The argument that with so many planes in the sky, how could they know just doesn't fly in the face of reason.

Air traffic controllers are very skilled at their jobs and know when planes fly off course. They know how to correctly direct air traffic safely. So safely that every day these same air traffic controllers know when to let a plane land and when to let one take off.

I'm not taking anything away from our troops by the amount of terrorists they kill each month. In fact, they should be applauded. The big problem is this--do you really think terrorists hate America because we are free and prosperous? They don't. They hate us because we meddle in middle eastern affairs and we give unending support to Israel.

One last thought--since we are occupying Iraq, doesn't it make sense that more terrorists are now appearing? How would you like it if Russia invaded our country and had a continued presence here? Would it make you mad and would you want to do something about it?

That's precisely what is going on now. The longer we stay there, the more these terrorists will grow in number.

I may have overlooked it but I didn't see the 1500 stat in the article. Anyway, if we are absolutely sure that these are terrorist we are killing then isn't 1500 a month a drop in the bucket ? Think about it.
how many terrorist are there ? If only 1% of the Islamic popualtion is extremist (to the point of being a terrorist) then that could mean over a million terrorist. Plus, again if we are in Iraq what about the other countries that have terrorist ? I'm pretty sure these people have family and friends who may turn into terrorist once they find out a loved one was killed. 1500 killed could mean thousands more effected. It doesn't take much training to pick up a gun and start shooting.
I'm sorry but 1500 is just a number.

Your analysis is short sighted. Do you really think that if we weren't killing 1,500 over there, that 1,500 would be buying plane tickets a month to come over here and fight? I don't think so, they'd never even get off the plane if our intelligence network is as good as they claim it is. If they want to come over here and fight, then in the words of Bush and Duke Nukem "Bring 'em on", they'll be outnumbered and out gunned here, they'd be incapable of operating with any success.

Where does it say in your link that 1,500 terrorists killed or captured in Iraq each month since January?

oops!

Try again.

edit: I should say thanks for at least linking a source to your assertion. However, pardon me if I don't take Bush's word on it. His word ain't worth sh!t anymore.

If terrorists are those who fight against us or shoot their weapons at us or otherwise oppose us (as must be the case with a claim of 1500 "terrorists" captured per month,) doesn't it logically follow that since we are in their country shooting at their citizens, opposing their actions and threatening their existence that WE are terrorists, too?

Yeah, well, maybe he should have thought of securing our borders first, because they probably are here. If he hadn't got us in Iraq, maybe we could focus more on the real enemy.

And how many of those did we create by being there? You know that he entire reason we were attacked on 9/11 is because we had troops in Saudi Arabia don't you? :)

1500 farmers a month I believe. Maybe some petty thieves.

I have been following the war for a while now. Every time news outlets say militants were killed, European, Arab and Israeli newspapers say that it's families.

I have spoken to veterans. They have told me most of what is done is harassing families until some male youth is found to be arrested.

Operation Phoenix in Viet Nam consisted of the abduction of all able bodied males from the Vietnamese countryside.

I have not a doubt that the US is once again involved in a policy of mass imprisonment and genocide. If they do it at home, why not do it in Iraq? right?
