I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with my first, money has been really tight for my husband and I after I got laid off last year, as soon as I found out I was pregnant I began temping for a large university to pay the bills, for the past eight months it has been pretty lucrative, they just calle dme to ask if i wanted a year long position, but when i told them i was pregnant they said that they would probably have to place me somewhere after I had the baby because they need a temp that wont have any interruptions (Ex:6 weeks maternity leave) I am so frustrated!!! I have an interview today at the university for a fulltime position that i am extremely overqwualified for but I feel like it is just a waste of time because they are going to see the belly and not hire me. I know they cant discriminate but they can say that there were other reasons to not hire me. I am so stressed an d I feellike Im gonna cry I just want to go home and feel sorry for myself. I have some unemployment money left

I know what you mean! I haven't been working since my son was about 3, he is in kindergarten now. I want to get a job, just because I am sooo extremely bored out of my mind. I am applying for an admin. assistant position with a temp company, I feel like as soon as they see my belly they will throw my resume away. I too am extremely overqualified with a bachelor's degree in psychology and years in school to be a registered nurse. I plan on going back to work part time after the baby is born, maybe on the weekend. Then I won't have to leave the baby home all week. So I feel your frustration, believe me! I hope you get the new job, they can NOT discriminate against you! If you are the best candidate they should hire you, which it sounds like you are. With my first son, I was hired as an admin. assistant while I was 6 months pregnant and in school. My husband and I both were in school and working part time. I sold them on the phone to hire me, then after they said they know I was perfect for the job, I said oh by the way I am pregnant. The lady who I was talking to said, well thats ok its not a disease. So good luck with the job and good luck with the new baby.

i understand how hard it is to be pregnant and not have a job. Im in the same situation. I don't like to sit at home all day and do nothing because i love to work, the only problem is that i have no transportation, i'm 8 months pregnant, and can't afford a babysitter for my 3 yr old son. My boyfriend works full time to help provide for the family and i feel so bad that i just can't help out because i have no money. I do get money from the government but all those goes to my son's saving account. I do feel like crying everyday...just knowing the fact that i probably won't be able to get a job long time from now. In my situation...MONEY is a big problem..because my BF doesn't make enough to buy another car or even afford a babysitter since we have a baby on the way. It really sucks and its stressful. I understand what u're going through. Just hang in there. I'm sure things will work out for u after the baby is born. U're near due date anyways, just take this time to relax and enjoy the rest of ur pregnancy. goodluck to you

The job market is horrible right now, no matter where you are. Maybe if you are honest with the interviewer and tell them that you are pregnant but you really need this job for that reason, they will have a heart. Maybe you won't have to take the full 6 weeks, even if you want to, that might help their decision too. Just remember there are lots of people out there looking for jobs and if they don't pick you it could really be because someone else fit their qualifications better. Good luck.

Try to look at the interview as a positive thing. Having doubts and negative energy will show to the other person in the interview. Even if you don't get the job, look at the bright side. You will get some great practice at the interview process that will help you land that perfect job soon!

I know its difficult and yes, its definitely scary! Just keep your head up and think positively and look for little changes you can make in your lifestyle that will help to conserve money. I'm sure you can do it!

Why not relax your job search until after you have had your baby. I know that right now work seems to be the focal point of your life, but shortly you will be taking care of another human being who will demand all your attention and more. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to enjoy that even if is is just for a few short weeks?

First of all you should see a doctor as soon as you can, pain and bleeding could be nothing but it could be something, you need to see a doctor. You are saying you are excited about this baby, well you need to stop making yourself sick and start eating right and taking vitamins, remember anything your body goes through your baby does too, take care of yourself if not for you then at least do it for your baby.

i know how you feel, i was fired at 7 months pregnant! i didnt even try to find another job, because i knew it was pointless! my husband and i had to manage on his salary alone! it was very tight for a while, but we eventually got back on our feet! just try to cut back where you can..such as...cable, internet, etc! just until you can get back on your feet. right now you need to focus on your baby! my husband got a new job and i have stayed home with my son for four years now!! good luck and god bless!

Just go to the interview anyway, it will give you the piece of mind, and make you feel better. even if they dont hire you, at least you tryed, dont let this oppurtunity pass you by regardless of you being pregnant.

good luck honey!!!!
