There are a lot of products out there to get rid of moles, but most, if not all are nothing more than a gimmick. First, you need to dig a 1' x 1' x 1" deep area of grass out of your lawn. Cut it so you can put it back when your done. If you have more than 2 grubs in the soil you might have a problem. Do this in a few random areas around the yard where the mole runs are. If you do have a grub problem you can pick up chemicals to apply at your local garden center. Just follow the directions on when and how to apply. Keep in mind that moles are also after the worms in your yard also. Worms are good for the lawn. The best way to trap moles is to use the spring loaded harpoon traps. You will need 4 to 5 traps. Any less will be pure luck on trapping the mole. You will need to find the active runs. To do this, lightly step down on a few of the tunnels around your yard. Later in the day or the next day, check to see which tunnels have popped back up. These will be the active runs. Set the traps on the active runs and on a few others connecting to it. To set the trap, lightly step down on the run and put the trap in place. Work the spikes up and down a few times so that when the trap is set off it will go thru the soil without being snaged. Be careful with these traps, you are after moles, not yourself. Good luck.

If you have a lot of moles, you probably have an oversupply of grubs and bugs.

Elimination the mole's food source...grubs...should do the trick for the long term. Spread a quality grub control on your lawn. "The idea is to kill the grubs to make your yard less like a mole fast food drive through."

Short term solutions may help. some people pour cat litter or human hair clippings into molehills & refill them until signs of the mole have disappeared.

There are a whole range of deterrents people put down the mole run such as: bits of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, Garlic, Chilli powder, & Mothballs. I like the idea that the whirlygigs's thumping may be able to chase them away.
Many articles say using Castor oil is effective. Mix up a spray of 3 parts castor oil to 1 part dish soap; use 4 tablespoons of this concoction in a gallon of water, and soak the tunnels and the entrances.
Good luck! Hope this helps.

The best way is not to trip about moles. They do a great service by eliminating grubs that would otherwise grow into Japanese beetles and wreck your plants. Moles do no damage except for the tunnels, and you can push those back into place with your foot.
LOL@ "varmints" I think that's a funny word

pesticides work but are irresponsible to the environment. Castor Oil is a deterrent. We are planning on planting castor bean plants around our back hard to hopefully scare them off.
We caught the most moles with the scissor type traps. they look like a scissor jack. We have caught about 4 each year for the last 2 years. pretty gross though.
