Maybe giving it a little bit of time. You and she may be able to repair the relationship. I honestly believe not to many children go by what god parents do. You teach your children values and morals and they won't seek another role model.

No leave her as she is, but tell her how u are feeling and that for now no contact with your child would be best. when your child is old enough let her deal with this situation but taking a way a god parent regardless of what happened isnt right for u or the child. just tell the sil till she can get her life straight to stay away from your child and your family...

You may be able to just let it go. I can't stand my god-mother and I only talk to her when I have to. You could also talk to your clergy to see if it can be done formally - otherwise just tell you sil that she has been relieved of her duties as godmother.

The "godparent" thing is not legal binding. However, you may want to inform all friends and relatives about your wish to nullify it.
