Ok, I made this photo up as a gag, but I think you would like to see what it would have looked like if the emails were true.

If Mars was going to appear as big as the Moon it would have been visible in the sky for weeks already, getting steadily larger. It never happens. That story was an internet hoax, and has been around every year since 2003, when Mars made its closest approach for 50,000 years. Even then it was 35 million miles away and looked like a bright star.

Sheesh that's still going around? Its a hoax. It did come closest to Earth on August 27...2003. I heard about it last year too, and I saw nothing. Its a hoax that's been going around far to long.

And trust me, you don't want it that c;lose. If it ever did get close it would have a huge effect on the oceans and tides...lets just not go there for simplicity sake (Sp?)

Ooops... Doesn´t look like the moon at all... Could science be wrong and that HOAX EMAIL be right?

This was an internet hoax. Think about it, have you EVER seen any planet so close to earth that it is as big as the moon?

You'll find plenty of fakes, but nothing genuine. The "two moons" business is an internet hoax.

Mars was as bright as you will ever see it last night . The moon was so bright that Mars was the only other thing I could see without binoculars.
I hope you were able to see the Lunar Eclipse too !

Nowhere. It didn't happen.
Sorry to disappoint you, but that story was a hoax.
