I'm suprised your computer even works with 64MB :)
I've found that the absolute minimum for a Windows XP system, to run efficiently, is 1GB.
http://www.newegg.com
has alot of computer components. Check out their memory prices for some good deals.
Good luck!

Hi Paul,
You already have some good answers here but I wanted to add that 64MB RAM is not very much RAM at all. It really depends on what Operating system you are using and since you didn't state which one, then we are doing a lot of guessing. If you are strictly limited to the 64mb and just can't upgrade then you might want to think about switching to an Operating System that might not be so memory intensive as Windows - I would recommend PCLinux OS. It is a 'lite' type of Linux that will run quickly on older machines but is still a good option and quite powerful for everyday home use. You can Google it and find out how to download and install it. Or ask that question at a later time if you decide to go that route.

If you run window 95 on your computer then, 64mb ram will be fine but if you anything from window 2000 up ward, you need 128 to increase the performance but 256 is recommended for optimal performance.

You should have at least 512MB of ram now days. Add some if your motherboard isnt too old. 64MB was ok 10 years ago. You can buy a decent desktop for $300 if you shop around. Go to Tigerdirect.com to check them out.

64mb of RAM is ancient its actually time to upgrade your computer. If you just upgrade your RAM your motherboard might not be able to handle the upgrade. How old is your computer?

yes!
it is more than enough, if you use a fast and light operating system, like dsl ( http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ ) you won't be able to do video/photo editing or anything that advanced, but you can browse the web, play some games (like tetris, cardgames, etc), type text/rtf files (no openoffice though). my second computer has 64 megs and its faster than my new one with 512 megs or so and a p4.
but no, it won't run vista.

Sure for Windows 3.1 You have to say your operating system, what programs start with the computer and what you are using and what you want to run.
